Kaoya And Thermodite

Another old original story I decided to revisit, this one from my freshman year of high school.  

In Ancient Greece, circa 480 BC, teenage Spartan-in-training Thermodite (pronounced "therm-oh-die-tee") is devastated when he learns that his beloved father Achades ("ahk-ey-deez"), a well-respected general in the Spartan army, is reported missing in action. Determined to find him, he sneaks out one night and mans a boat to Thermopylae, where the Spartans are to engage in battle with the invading Persian army. Along the way, a storm breaks out and a blinding light appears in the water. Believing it to be the sea god Poseidon lighting the way, he goes over to take a closer look, only to be knocked out of his boat and into the sea, where he is swallowed whole by the mysterious light.

Next thing Thermodite knows, he finds himself waking up in a whole new world; modern-day Tokyo! There, he meets face-to-face with Kaoya Kujibiki, a hip, fun-loving, street-wise girl who takes an immediate liking to the confused Greek, and later takes him in. Now lost in this new era (and new country), Thermodite must try to survive if he wants to return to his own time and place, all while his newfound friendship with Kaoya develops. 

In other words, it's basically the movie Kate And Leopold (with Hugh Jackman and Meg Ryan) meets 300 meets those slice-of-life high school anime.
